We describe this hybrid business model as: make well, stock well, commission well. What it means for you is that you get the very best of British craft apparel making: whether you're choosing a handmade-in-Southwold piece, a branded product from a British manufacturer that we've carefully selected, or a Blackshore piece that we've designed and commissioned to be made elsewhere (but always in the British Isles). All you have to do is wear it well!
The unique Blackshore Seaspray Ventile® Hooded Jacket is in production now! And we're going to make it out of one of the world's best performing cotton weatherproof fabrics.

Our workshop in an old fishing net factory on Whapload Road, Lowestoft gave us a wonderful start. We moved in there in June 2019: such a short time ago, but somehow it seems much, much longer. The coast is where people go to relax, to dream, to get in touch with a different side of life and the human condition. It’s elemental. Even a simple day at the seaside is full of profound dreams and mood-enhancing change for children and adults alike. And the coast speaks of adventure too of course. And the clothing of the coast is wonderfully democratic and speaks of working people – both at work and at play (unlike traditional ‘countryside’ clothing which has so many associations with the gentry and the aristocracy).
